Lauren Slatton hit another sweet spot at the Cumberland County Girls Invitational on Thursday.
She shot 76 and placed first. She never took her driver out of the bag. Her father, Jay Slatton, said she hit 4-irons and 5-irons all day off the tees. Lauren was 2-under on the front nine.
Lauren said, “I struggled a little on the back nine, but the front nine made up for it. I was not nervous. I might be nervous when it comes to the region and state tournaments.”
According to her dad, Lauren is 13th in the state and 587th nationally on the Junior Golf Scoreboard. Lauren is 13 years old and only a freshman. She is competing in a tournament this weekend in Loudon, Tenn.
The Warren County golf team’s next match is Monday at home against Cumberland County. Tee time is 1 p.m.
