It may not have been the snowstorm that hit when Team USA faced Costa Rica in the World Cup qualifier, but snow flurries and freezing temperatures greeted the Warren County High School soccer team when it took the field Tuesday against the Shelbyville Golden Eagles. If Warren County coach Todd Willmore knew about the impending blowout, he may have saved his team a bout with frost bite and called the match. Shelbyville slammed the Pioneers 8-0, dropping Warren County to 0-3 this season. This week’s unexpected snow was a surprise setting for the spring sport, but coach Willmore didn’t see any reason to postpone the match. The field was in good condition and transportation for the Golden Eagles didn’t seem to be an issue. The issue was trying to slow down Shelbyville, something the Pioneers couldn’t seem to do over the course of the game.
