Needing to score in the closing seconds, Boyd’s high school basketball team turned to a youthful option Saturday night, a seventh-grader.With the game on the line, Rhiannon Hoover delivered in the clutch, sinking a 3-pointer with :12 left to send the Lady Broncos to a 35-33 home victory over Providence Christian Academy.Hoover was picked up and spun around by coach Donna Newby just after the final seconds ticked off the clock. Afterwards, Newby said it was no accident the ball was in Hoover’s hands.“I was setting her up to take the shot,” said Newby. “She has great touch on those 3-pointers so I figured she had the best chance of making it.
