Even if the wait may be 30 minutes longer than expected, at least the Pioneers can finally say its game day.The Warren County High School football team will kick off the 2014 season tonight in Smithville with a game against bitter border rival DeKalb County. The game will begin at 7:30 p.m., a change from the original 7 p.m. start time.School officials made the decision to back up kickoff 30 minutes in order to avoid some of the heat hitting the Midstate. The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory earlier this week warning the heat index could reach a range of 100-105 degrees Friday, pushing the mark that would prevent the teams from competing due to TSSAA rules. The TSSAA has put in place restrictions on participating in practices or games should the heat index reach 104 degrees.
