Let a new winning streak begin!
The WCHS Lady Pioneers used 18 points from Kyra Perkins to brush aside Franklin County on Tuesday night, winning 53-40 in Winchester.
Shelby Smartt hit three 3-pointers and scored 12 for the Lady Pioneers.
The win improves Warren County to 17-3 overall and 2-1 in district. Franklin County falls to 8-8 and 1-2.
Perkins emerged from an off night against Coffee County to remind everyone she’s one of the best players in the district, helping Warren County pull away in the second half with her work on the glass.
It was tied 20-20 at the break.
Warren County won by double digits despite shooting 44.8% from the foul line. The Lady Pioneers were 13-of-29 for the game.
The Lady Pioneers showed that after a 12-game winning streak, they weren’t about to let a losing streak reach 2.
Warren County faces Shelbyville Friday night at Charlie Dalton Gym. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
Shelbyville (6-8) is on a bit of a skid having lost five straight. Included in that streak is a 64-51 loss to Warren County.
