Pioneers win big

It's been so good, so far for the Pioneers. Warren County picked up its second win in as many games Thursday, smashing Jackson Northside 15-2 while playing in the Grand Slam Classic.

Sophomore southpaw Evan Snapp threw a gem, allowing just three hits in five innings to help the Pioneers blowout the Indians. He didn't lack for run support as Warren County put up 10 runs in the first and never looked back.

While the Pioneers finished with eight hits, led by two hits each from Baler Melton, Easton Denning and Tyler Adams, patience at the plate was key in the big win. Warren County drew 13 free passes, including five straight to take an early 2-1 lead.

Adams and Jax King kept the lead swelling with RBI singles, while Hayden Collins ripped a RBI double in the first. By the time Denning tripled to center and Melton smashed a double, it was 10-1.

Denning and Melton followed with run-scoring hits in the second as Warren County went up 14-1. Adams rounded out the scoring by taking home on a passed ball in the third.
