Football fans eager to see Warren County High School’s final preseason scrimmage this Friday night better put on their driving gloves.
The Pioneers are scheduled to play in a jamboree in Columbia against Dickson County. According to Mapquest, the stadium is 93 miles away and a 1 hour, 49 minute drive.
For fans who plan to attend, the address to plug into your GPS device is 921 Lion Parkway, Columbia, TN 38401.
The WCHS varsity team is scheduled to play two quarters against Dickson County beginning at 7 p.m.
The Pioneer JV team is scheduled to face Christ Presbyterian Academy beginning at 5 p.m.
The Pioneers have had two uneven performances in scrimmages at Nunley Stadium against Lincoln County and Tullahoma. The offense has been effective moving the ball, but has endured some penalties and turnovers. WCHS coach Tom Moore says overall he has been pleased with the offense and the mistakes can be corrected.
Defensively, the Pioneers have been sturdy against the run, but consistency is needed. There have been a few defensive lapses.
“The defense has been physical in both scrimmages and I’m happy about that,” said Moore. “But we’ve been giving up big plays.”
In facing Dickson County on Friday, the Pioneers will face a triple-option running team. It will be a much different look than they see in the season opener against pass-heavy DeKalb County on Aug. 18.
The season opener will be played at Nunley Stadium.
