Warren County Middle School welcomed back basketball as both the boys and girls took to the court on Thursday.The Pioneers got 2012 started with a bang as the boys team defeated Franklin South Middle School 39-17.The Lady Pioneers weren’t as fortunate. Playing for a share of the Central Tennessee Conference lead, Warren County’s girls lost 27-23.The Pioneers were too fast and too physical for Franklin South. Warren County held the visitors scoreless in the first quarter as the Pioneers opened the game on a 10-0 run.Warren County focused on getting the ball in the paint early as powerful post Will Lupo scored five points in the first period.Franklin South showed some life on offense in the second by scoring 11 points, but Lupo, A.D. Majors and Jake Pennington each hit shots and Liam Brock nailed two free throws as Warren County went to the locker room leading 18-11.The Pioneers matched their first-half point total in the third quarter alone.
