Pioneers pound Boyd
Eli Kuykendall finds it tough to get by the defense of Boyd's Adam Pistole during the first quarter of a WCMS win Thursday.

The Pioneers put their cart in front of the horse so to speak on Thursday night. WCMS out ran the Boyd Broncos on the way to a 52-9 win.
WCMS is loaded with talent and 10 of the 11 Pioneer players put the ball in the basket. Keldrick Cox for WCMS was the game’s high scorer with 10 points.
It was an all-out shootout between the Pioneers and Broncos. WCMS has picked up strength since the dismal start in the preseason tournament. The Pioneer offense created havoc in the front court for Boyd and forced the Broncos into bad decisions.
After an opening first quarter WCMS held a 14-2 lead over the Broncos. Adam Pistole for Boyd was the only Bronco to get a decent look for points against a tough defensive team.
Raleigh Gilliam dropped in his only six points of the game in the first quarter.
If Boyd thought the first quarter was tough, WCMS turned up the pressure in the second. The tenacious Pioneer defense cut off all passing lanes in the second and limited shots to a very bare minimum. The Broncos had no luck in the second finding points. Five different players got a shot to fall for the Pioneers 10-point quarter.
At the half, WCMS established a 24-2 lead.
The Pioneers kept their foot on the gas and in the third quarter Layne Roberts was unstoppable. He scored six of his eight points in the third quarter. The Pioneers put the game out of reach with an 18-point third quarter run.
Dyllon Young did find his way to the goal during the third quarter and he was followed by his teammate Pistole again who sank a shot and knocked down 1-of-2 free-throws.
In the final quarter Cox took control of the Pioneer offense and WCMS went on to outrun the Broncos to a 52-9 win.
