When the pads start popping and aggression reaches a whole new level, players can start separating from the pack. That’s precisely what Pioneer coach Scott Smith wanted when his team took the field Monday for the official start of fall practice. All the hard work put into the weight room and conditioning over the summer was finally getting applied on the gridiron and coach Smith was hoping to see who could rise to the occasion on the field. The Pioneers went through an intense three-hour workout, where players were flying through individual drills before getting in work in team drills as well.Attention to detail and being precise have been the big points of emphasis for Smith since his arrival and nothing seems to be changing after day one of practice. With much work to be done before the season opener Friday, Aug. 22 at DeKalb County, coach Smith and his staff were intense and focused on every detail during drill work.
