Pioneers face Brentwood in regionals

It's win or go home time again for the Pioneers. Warren County will travel to Brentwood Saturday, with the winner of the battle between the Pioneers and Bruins advancing the Region 5-4A semifinals and the loser being done for the year.

Warren County (16-14) enters the region tourney as the No. 3 seed from District 9-4A after beating Lincoln County Tuesday, while the Bruins earned a home game by finishing second in the District 10-4A tourney (lost 53-36 to Independence in the finals).

Brentwood (17-11) has been adjusting on the fly in the last month after losing two starters recently due to a self-reported TSSAA violation, according to reporting by The Tennessean. The Bruins still have plenty of firepower though, especially with 6-foot-7 forward Daniel Cochran. The senior, and University of Chicago commit, is nearly averaging a double-double this season (23 points, 9.6 rebounds).

The Pioneers can counter with a trio of sophomores in the paint (Keyton Reno, Deashawn Adams and Chance Whitlock) and senior forward Alex van Vuuren on defense. Guard Treyton Terry, the engine of the Pioneer offense, came out of the district tournament gimpy, but is hopeful to suit up for the battle.
