Pioneer 5K raises $600 for WCMS team

The WCMS cross country team held its first 5K race over the weekend at Nunley Stadium to help with funds to support the team.The Pioneer 5K saw 20 competitors from around Warren County in its inaugural race, including Blaine Wilcher, WCMS athletic director Betsy McBride, and Scott Holmes, just to name a few.The race raised $300 the day of the race. With donations and pre-ordering shirts, the race raised a grand total of $600 to help with travel expenses.“I was really happy with the turnout we had during the race,” said WCMS cross country coach Patty Kelly. “The community really helped the team out a lot and provided several great prizes for the winners and we’re very appreciative.”On if the 5K will be an annual event for the team Kelly added, “I want to make this a yearly thing for the community.
