Cydney Jane Perry is emerging

as one of the top cross country

runners in Middle Tennessee.

The Boyd standout is only in

sixth grade, but she turned

heads all season as she blazed

trails and sprinted past competition

to top finishes. Her latest

feat was finishing seventh in the

MTAC conference championships.

“She has a lot of potential.

Cydney is an incredible talent

with great work ethic. I’m very

proud of her,” said Boyd cross

country coach Wally McClarren.

Perry was named to the

MTAC all-conference team following

a fall where she regularly

placed in the top five at

events, including winning her

age group at a few. In the championships,

Perry finished with a

time of 14 minutes, 26 seconds

in the two-mile event, pacing

her among the top middle

school runners, all who were 1-2

years older than Perry.

The Broncos also had a pair of

finishers in the middle school

boys race, with Connor Andrews

and Bryant Ralph taking part in

the run. Dallas Greene represented

the high school team in

the 5K race.

“They all did the school

proud,” said McClarren.

None more than Perry, who

looks like the next great Boyd athlete.
