WCHS Pioneer Wesley Jennings, shown prior to regional competition, was a steadying force at first base this season.
The Pioneers knew they had a rough road going into a regional game in Ooltewah on Monday. The path turned from rough to rocky as the Ooltewah Owls had 4 runs on the board by the fourth inning and held the Pioneers to a null score until the top of the sixth.Having their best offense in the sixth inning, Warren County put 2 on the board as an Isaac Golden triple to centerfield scored runner Cole Estes and Wesley Jennings singled to center driving in Golden for what would be the final score, 4-2.In the low-hitting pitching battle, the Pioneers doubled the Owls production ending with 8 hits compared to Ooltewah’s 4. Ooltewah was able to capitalize more on its production.Tyler Hollingsworth took the loss for the Pioneers, throwing all six innings giving up 4 hits and 4 runs with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks.Warren County’s Estes (1 run) and Jennings (1 RBI) both went 2-for-3 at the plate.
