Missed foul shots haunt Lady Broncos

The Lady Broncos played host to the Lady Patriots on Friday and came up just shy, dropping the contest, 59-57, at the buzzer.With time running out, the Lady Patriots converted 8 points from the foul line, while Boyd hit for 4, making the difference between a win, overtime, and the loss they ultimately suffered.“We lost this game because we did not hit our foul shots down the stretch and did not adjust to their defense,” said Boyd head coach Brent Warren “This was a tough loss to swallow. We had several opportunities to put the game away and just did not take advantage of our opportunities.”Both teams shot well from the line, with Boyd hitting for 20-of-33 for 61 percent, while the Lady Patriots were slightly better going 19-of-28 for 68 percent. As close as this contest was, foul shooting was big.There was also the outside shot differential, as the Lady Patriots converted five 3-pointers, while the Lady Broncos made four, another critical juncture for the 2-point game.All five 3-point shots from the Lady Patriots were made by Elsie Williams whose offense the Lady Broncos couldn’t stop as she scored a game-high 31 points.Rhiannon Hoover led the Lady Broncos tally with 19, followed by Mackinzie Pistole who hit for 13.
