Matheney announces player meeting

Ben Matheney is opening his arms to prospective Pioneers. The new Warren County Middle School football coach will hold a meeting Tuesday, March 26 at 5 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Matheney plans to make his formal introduction after being hired to replace Donnie Harris in December. Matheney was a career Pioneer, playing at WCMS and WCHS before going into coaching. Matheney was the offensive line coach for the high school team the last two years.

The meeting will also be the first chance for players and parents to meet members of Matheney’s staff. Although all the spots aren’t filled, Matheney is planning to unveil a few members.

“I’m hoping to finalize everything soon. We have some good coaches who have agreed to come help with the program,” said Matheney.

Matheney asks any child who will be in grades 6-8 next year and has an interest in football to attend.

“This meeting is open to anyone who has a child interested in playing or anyone who is curious about the direction of the program,” said Matheney.

Matheney also plans to have a question-and-answer session at the meeting.
