Six years of winning cornhole tournaments culminated into yet another win for Michael Martin and Dennie Vaughn during Morrison Ruritan’s Fourth of July festivities Saturday as they faced off against 10 other teams.

“Tonight’s win marks six years since our very first win,” said Martin. “It feels just like every other time we win.”

Organizer and longtime member of Morrison Ruritan, Wes Williams, was elated with the turnout to this year’s annual cornhole tournament.

“This is our sixth year of having the tournament and the competition rises every year,” said Williams. “We even had some teams from the surrounding counties. It’s always a great event.”

“I have been involved with the Ruritan for the last 15 years. The Fourth celebration is an opportunity to provide entertainment for the whole community,” explained Williams. “It wouldn’t be possible without the support from the town of Morrison and many volunteers.”

First-place cornhole winners took home $100 for their efforts and second place received $50.

“I’m probably going to use it for more bags,” said Martin of his plans for the prize money.
