

Elementary teams will have one more chance to add to their trophy cases.
The 7-8 grade elementary tournament is set to start Monday and conclude Saturday, where two teams will be crowned champions at Charlie Dalton Gym.
The Dibrell Wildcats and Morrison Lady Eagles enter competition as the favorites following perfect 10 regular seasons. Both teams earned the No. 1 seed in their respective brackets, which came with a first-round bye. They’re both slated to be in action Tuesday, with Morrison playing at 4:30 p.m. and Dibrell looking to extend its 32-game winning streak at 5:45 p.m.
The No. 2 seed in the boys bracket will be the 8-2 Morrison Eagles, who will play Tuesday at 8:15 p.m.
Centertown, Eastside and Irving College all finished the regular season 6-4 and split their matchups. With no head-to-head edges possessed, the tiebreaker turned to the three teams’ performances against Morrison.
The aggregate scoring in matchups against Morrison favored Centertown, which lost by just seven points in two matchups against the undefeated Lady Eagles. Irving College (minus 28) earned the third seed, while Eastside (minus 57) slid to fourth.
The Centertown boys also came out on top of a tiebreaker, earning the third seed in the boys bracket after finished the season tied with Irving College at 5-5. The teams split their regular-season matchups, but the Warriors won in aggregate scoring, topping Irving College 84-74 in total scoring.
The No. 5 seeds are the 2-8 Dibrell Lady Wildcats and 2-8 Eastside Bulldogs. Winless seasons by both Boyd programs put the Broncos and Lady Broncos as No. 6 seeds.
