The Lady Pioneer volleyball team crushed Rhea County in its first district match of the season, winning three straight sets.
With the win, the WCHS volleyball team improves to 7-0.
Warren County won on the road Tuesday with scores of 25-6, 25-15, and 25-15.
“We did a really good job of keeping our intensity during the match,” said WCHS coach Katie Rogers. “During the first set, Rhea County could not pass up our hits very well.”
The Lady Pioneers came out strong in the first set holding Rhea County to only 6 points. Rhea County was unable to stop Bethany Fye hits as she had 17 kills in the match.
In the second set, WCHS started to get into a rhythm. Passing was on point with Hailey Wood playing a key role with her sets for the Lady Pioneers.
The third set, the Lady Pioneers showed their athleticism at the serving line with Hope Mullican leading the way with her seven aces. WCHS assistant coach Slayden Rogers helped the Lady Pioneers tremendously with calling the spot for serves as the Lady Pioneers hit them.
“Our serving really helped us win this one,” said Katie Rogers.
