The Warren County Middle School girls soccer team comes into the 2012 season with unfinished business on its mind.Though the Lady Pioneers cruised to an undefeated record and Central Tennessee Conference regular season championship a season ago, Warren County ended its season with a heartbreaking loss to Shelbyville Harris on its home field in the finals of the CTC tournament.Coach Matt Walker thinks the loss in the finals last year, especially losing a late lead and ultimately falling in overtime, has fueled his squad in the offseason.“These girls worked their tails off this summer and have been conditioning hard,” said Walker. “I can’t wait to see what they can do on the field.”Only two starters, and 13 total players, return from last year’s Lady Pioneers. Although the small number of returning starters could worry some coaches, Walker feels like his team will benefit from a solid group of upcoming players. Many of the players who helped the junior varsity team go undefeated last season will move up to the varsity squad this season.
