It took a quarter for the Warren County girls basketball team to get going Tuesday, but when the Lady Pioneers got rolling, South Pittsburg never stood a chance.Brittany Myers led a balanced scoring night for the Lady Pioneers with 11 points as Warren County defeated the Lady Pirates 51-40 in the opening game of the Hall of Champions night held at Charlie Dalton Gym.South Pittsburg started the contest by scoring the first five points, but the first of three 3-pointers by Myers knotted the game midway through the first period.Sophomore subs Saydee Winfree and Allison Hitchcock came in with late layups as Warren County led 14-11 after eight minutes.The Lady Pioneers continue to add to the lead in the second as coach Erick Baird sent waves of players at South Pittsburg. Seven Lady Pioneers scored in the second period, including Lexi Rowland connecting on back-to-back layups in the final minute to push the advantage to 35-20 at halftime.South Pittsburg used an 12-2 run late in the third quarter to cut the lead to five, but Myers came up clutch as she swished a 3-pointer from the corner as time expired to make it 43-35 going into the final quarter. The Lady Pioneers used stall ball to their advantage in the fourth quarter.
