Lady Pioneers beat Siegel for 11th straight win
Shelby Smartt
Shelby Smartt, shown in previous action at home, scored 9 points Tuesday night against Siegel High School.

It doesn't matter if Brienne Kelsey is in Florida or Tennessee. She can shoot the 3.

Kelsey led the Lady Pioneers in scoring Tuesday night in Murfreesboro as she poured in 16 points during a 51-31 win over Siegel High School.

The win is Warren County's 11th straight and improves the Lady Pioneers to 15-2 overall heading into district play Friday night at The Dalt.

Kyra Perkins added 11 points and Shelby Smartt scored 9 for the Lady Pioneers.

Warren County was up 16-12 after the first quarter but established a double-digit lead by holding Siegel to just 3 points in the second quarter. That allowed the Lady Pioneers to take a 29-15 lead at the half and Siegel never mounted a serious second-half charge.

Warren County is coming off tournament wins in the Sonic Shootout in Sparta and in the Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational in Florida. Kelsey is a big reason for the team's success.

She drained four more 3-pointers Tuesday night and has been hot behind the 3-point line in recent weeks. Her outside firepower has been exactly what the Lady Pioneers need on a team with athletic guards who can drive to the basket and with Perkins controlling many of the rebounds in the paint.

Warren County is scheduled to play at home against Franklin County this Friday night with tip-off scheduled for 6 p.m.

Other Warren County scores include Jaden Smartt with 7, Mia Hobbs with 4, and Savannah Winfree, Sydney Burger and Lex Verge with 2 points apiece.
