The Covenant Academy Lady Lions played host to the West Elementary Lady Wizards on Thursday night, and clawed to a 15-2 home win during 5-6 grade elementary basketball action.Still developing their sports program, West struggled on offense and definitely had its hands full with Covenant’s leading scorer, Ava Claire Wrather, who shot for a game-high 9 points. Wrather’s aggressive defense added to the Lady Wizards’ headache as she gave West many more scoring opportunities by forcing turnovers.“They did a good job on the things we’ve been working on,” said Covenant coach Alan Smith. “We have a very young team and are still working on the basics.”West’s struggles started early as the Lady Wizards only score came from Emily Balderas in the second quarter.“It wasn’t a good team outcome,” said West head coach Braydon Lewis.
