The Boyd Lady Broncos were diving on the floor and hustling to track down the ball, but they couldn’t get past a tough Franklin Road Christian School team in volleyball action Monday night at Boyd.
Franklin Road earned a road win in straight sets, 25-19, 25-20, 25-10.
The Lady Broncos (1-2) fought with tenacity the first two sets, which could have easily gone the other way if Boyd won a few key points. Krista Chisam showed her rocket serve was difficult to return as it came across the net with velocity.
Chisam got on a roll with 6 straight service points in the first set. She opened the second set with Boyd scoring the first 7 points on her serve.
One big difference was Franklin Road’s shot accuracy. The team was skilled at finding holes in the Lady Bronco defense with short dinks over the top of potential blockers at the net and hard shots to the back that just managed to land inbounds.
Boyd gave great effort in trying to track down those shots. During one play, Sarah Woodruff was forced to travel well out of bounds to reach a ball hit by one of her teammates. She batted the ball back in play and Boyd got it over the net in 3 shots, but Franklin Road kept up the pressure and still managed to win the point.
Next up for the Lady Broncos is a Friday night home game against the Bradley Knights.
