A sport that has grown in popularity along with rugby in Warren County is about to kick off its new spring season Monday as adult co-ed kickball games begin on Jim Mansfield Field at McMinnville Civic Center. The sport began locally with a game during the 2016 Smokin’ in McMinnville BBQ event, then garnered enough interest for a four-team league to play in the fall. Now a spring league has sprung due to the popularity the sport has attained.“People just fell in love with it,” said Terry Beard, athletic director for McMinnville Parks and Recreation. “We’ve had excellent turnouts from people coming to watch them play and liking it so much they became players themselves.
