Warren County High School JROTC Raider cadets Victoria Looper, left, and David King are ready to roll during the Raider Nationals Nov. 5-6. The Raiders completed their last competition in freezing weather during Rally in the Valley.
With a cold front moving in bringing rain, it was a chilly weekend for Warren County High School’s JROTC Raider team as it competed in the last contest of the year at Cove Lake State Park in Cumberland High School’s Rally in the Valley.Just coming back from Raider Nationals in the warmer clime of Gerald Lawhorn Scouting Base in Molena, Ga., it was back to basics again as the rope bridge, cross country rescue, knot tying, first aid test, map reading test, and strength test made for some heated competition.“It was really cold on Saturday,” said Warren County High School 1st Sgt. Tim Howard. “A weather front moved through and it rained for about an hour. I’m really happy with the team as they earned first place in the strength test and third in military map reading.”The strength test is a tough physical endurance test, the most challenging of the entire meet.
