GIRLSThe girls 5-6 grade basketball season continued Thursday for the Irving College Lady Tigers as they hosted Hickory Creek’s Lady Hawks, defeating Hickory Creek 30-3.Blanking Hickory Creek at the half, the Lady Tigers gave their home crowd a thrill as Mia Hobbs hit for double digits with 16 points, Makenzie Hillis had 6 points, Brooklyn Wannamaker hit for 4 points, and Jessie Young was good for 2 points.Scoring for Hickory Creek were Isabella Pennington with 2 points and Aleah Davis shot 1 point from the line. BOYSThe Irving College Tiger boys 5-6 grade basketball team played host to Hickory Creek’s Hawks on Thursday night in a barn burner where the Tigers narrowly escaped with the win, defeating the Hawks 25-24.The game changer was accuracy at the foul line. Hickory Creek couldn’t keep out of foul trouble giving Tanner Wannamaker just one too many chances as he hit 3-of-7.
