Hickory Creek’s offense proved too much for the visiting Irving College Tigers, as the Hawks defeated the Tigers, 38-24, Thursday night in 5-6 grade basketball action.
The decider in Thursday’s game was a second-quarter drive by the Hawks leading to a 20-10 halftime advantage. Irving College couldn’t get enough offense to overcome the deficit.
Leading scorer Alex van Vuuren was the go-to guy for Hickory Creek as the hoopster hit for 17 points.
Also scoring for Hickory Creek were Camron Perry with 10 points, Eloy Fernandez with 4, Brett Cantrell had 3 points, and Brody Womack and Korey Smith both scored 2 points.
Making points for Irving College were Riley Wannamaker with 8 points, Abram Stinson had 6 and Tanner Wannamaker and Cooper Bailey both scored 5 points each.
Irving College plays host to Bobby Ray on Monday, Nov. 7, while Hickory Creek doesn’t play again until Monday, Nov. 14 traveling to Warren County Middle School. Game times begin at 6 p.m.
