With the success the Warren County High School boys and girls basketball teams had in Christmas tournament, fans are starting to believe the Pioneers and Lady Pioneers could emerge out of the basement in the District 6-AAA standings where they were projected before the season began. After starting the season 1-11, the Pioneers have won five of their last eight games. That stretch includes Saturday’s victory over former district foe Coffee County. The Warren County boys team also won four games in Christmas tournaments at Ezell Harding and Watertown as the Pioneers got seniors Trace Taylor and Lee Carden back in the lineup.Though coach John Dillard hasn’t had his full roster to work with in his first season – and won’t as projected starting center Krojhn Calbert will miss the season with an ACL injury – the current stretch of games has been the healthiest the Pioneers have been all season.
