Children looking for something to do this summer might as well Shoot for Heaven.

After having a virtual camp last summer due to COVID, the Shoot for Heaven Basketball Camp is returning in July to the gym at Westwood Church of Christ. The camp will take place July 13-15 with a June 30 deadline to register. The camp is free.

The camp is organized by WCMS girls basketball coach Mendy Stotts, who will be receiving help this year from Irving College basketball coach John Bryan O’Connor and members of the Westwood Youth Group.

The camp is open to grades K-5. It will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. noon each day.

“We will have basketball-related activities inside and outside and we’ll also have a devotional each day,” said Stotts. “Basketball fundamentals, games, and a daily speaker will be part of the camp, as well as visits and help from Pioneer and Lady Pioneer players.”

Stotts says a goal is for children to have fun while also improving their basketball skills.
