The seventh- and eighth-grade Warren County elementary league season will begin on Thursday night and there will be no bigger debut than the new Dibrell gym.
After spending last year saying their good-byes to the current Dibrell gym, Wildcat fans will finally get to watch a game in a state-of-the-art gym which was supposed to open up in November.
Construction fell behind schedule over the summer, pushing the debut back to the start of the seventh- and eighth-grade regular season, which is tomorrow night.
For its first opponent, Dibrell will play host to Morrison. The Lady Wildcats, who finished second in the Morrison Ruritan preseason tournament in December, and Lady Eagles will tip off at 6 p.m.
The Wildcats, last year’s regular season and tournament champions in the elementary league, will take on the Eagles following the girls game.
In other elementary action, Boyd will play host to Irving College and Eastside will welcome Centertown.
At both gyms, a tournament champion will be on display.
The Boyd Lady Broncos won the preseason Morrison Ruritan tournament and will try to keep the momentum going when the regular season begins at 6 p.m. at J.K. Stanley Gymnasium.
The Eastside Bulldogs stayed busy in December as the team won the Morrison Ruritan tournament and finished second in the Warren Lodge Masonic tournament. The Lady Bulldogs will begin action at 6 p.m. against the Lady Warriors and the boys game will follow.
