In game two of the night in boys 6-8 baseball action, the second place Edward Jones team battled against Moose Lodge. Edward Jones was looking for a win to keep pace with Womack Printing, which won earlier in the night.
Edward Jones ultimately came out victorious, winning 15-7 thanks to an eight-run fifth inning that was the difference.
Owen Frye, Braylen Hankins, Jonas Bailey, Jordan Price, Ethan Holder and Hayden Fults led the charge for Edward Jones at the plate, all contributing two hits. Price and Frye also added three RBIs apiece in the contest.
Brady Norris and Andrew Key led Moose Lodge at the plate, both going 3-for-3. Key also contributed three RBIs.
Edward Jones took a four-run advantage in the top of the first inning thanks to a 3-RBI triple by Price and a fielder’s choice by Moose Lodge, 4-0.
Moose Lodge failed to cut into the Edward Jones lead in the bottom of the inning and the score remained the same.
Both teams failed to add any runs in the second and after Edward Jones went down quickly in the top of the third, Moose Lodge finally got on the scoreboard.
Norris led the bottom of the inning off by slapping a single through the infield. That was followed by an RBI triple by Key and Moose Lodge was on the board, 4-1. Moose Lodge later trimmed the lead to two thanks to a Jack Rhoton RBI single, 4-2, after three.
Edward Jones increased its lead in the top of the fourth, scoring three runs on a 2-RBI triple by Fults, 6-2. Fults later scored on a passed ball and Edward Jones built a five-run lead, 7-2.
Moose Lodge tied the game up in the bottom of the inning thanks to timely hitting and multiple RBIs, scoring five runs, 7-7, after four.
Edward Jones distanced itself from Moose Lodge yet again in the top of the fifth, scoring seven runs courtesy of a hitting barrage. Hankins drove in a run to break the tie, when he hit an RBI double, 8-7.
The double was followed by a 2-RBI single by Barrett McGuiness, 10-7. RBIs from Fults, Holder, Eckel, Sweeton and a fielder’s choice, scoring a run, gave Edward Jones a comfortable lead, 15-7.
Moose Lodge was down to its final outs in the bottom of the inning and despite getting runners on base they failed to score any runs and Edward Jones prevailed, 15-7.
