Only one field goal separated the Boyd Broncos and the Eastside Bulldogs in the first quarter of Monday’s 7-8 grade WCEBA tournament first-round game.A blowout in the second and third quarters by Eastside’s offense was decisive as it scored 33 to Boyd’s 10 and was unrecoverable for the Broncos. Eastside took an easy win, 47-20.“I would say it’s a good win over a much-improved Boyd team,” said Eastside head coach Kevin Burnett. “I thought we were a little shaky early, but played with good energy in the second half.”Eastside distributed the basketball well, with eight players posting points headed by Caden Beaty who scored 12 points, with Reyes Cruz just 2 points behind with 10 points.Boyd’s leading scorer was Tyler Jakes who scored 9 points.
