Dibrell girls advance against Lady Eagles
Brianna Young Friday
Bri Young for the Lady Wildcats picked apart the defense of the Lady Eagles in Friday night action at the Morrison Ruritan Tournament.

The Morrison Lady Eagles made it past the first round against the Boyd Lady Broncos on Thursday, but ran into a tough second-round game with the Dibrell Lady Wildcats on Friday night.
Dibrell ran past the Lady Eagles, 32-25, behind a game-high 21 points from Bri Young.
Dibrell is always poised to get out and run in transition and Friday was no different. With a solid game plan and a quick tempo, the plan was in motion. The Lady Eagles fell right into the trap as many have before them. If Dibrell gets the rebound, the race is on to the other end looking for easy layups. Kalie Wood and Bri Young carried the Lady Wildcats in the first quarter, while their Lady Wildcat teammates cleaned up the glass. The Lady Eagles did find points in the first from Riley Desmaris.
The Lady Eagles made some adjustments that slowed the pace just enough for them to climb their way back in to the game. The Lady Eagles also found their way in transition getting back to score a few quick, easy baskets. Young added eight more along with several others for the Lady Wildcats. While Kaylin Barrett opened up for six against the tough pressure applied by Dibrell. Halftime came and found the Lady Eagles down seven points.
The Lady Eagles came back into play with rebounding and hitting the outlet pass. Defending against the speedy guards proved to be more difficult than it seemed. Compare that to breaking the pressure defense the Wildcats were applying and it was hard for the Lady Eagles to compete in the third. Countless turnovers resulted in easy baskets going the other way for Dibrell.
Morrison found two quick back-to-back shots in the final period, forcing Dibrell to call a quick timeout and slow the small amount of momentum the Lady Eagles had found. Morrison, needing to stop the clock, started fouling.
The only problem with fouling the Lady Wildcats is they are a very good free throw shooting team. Morrison was able to outscore the Lady Wildcats in the final quarter, but it was too late.
