Joining nearly 250 runners on a rain-soaked course, the WCHS cross country teams were able to brave the conditions to turn in solid times in the Burnett Invitational Saturday in Cookeville. Freshman Emma Woodlee continued to be a standout for the Lady Pioneers, finishing fifth overall in the girls 5K, while freshman Lucas Rhea paced the Pioneers by coming in 25th overall.
Woodlee has been on a tear all year, including setting the school record in a meet in early September. She wasn’t able to replicate her school-best performance on a slippery track Saturday, but she still stayed with the front pack as she turned in a time of 22 minutes, 17.19 seconds.
