Covenant Academy was outmatched on Tuesday against Franklin Christian Academy, which ran away with the game early.

Covenant’s Noah Mason was the top scorer of the game, however, with 28 points for the Lions.

Lathan Horn led the Falcons to victory with 20 as Franklin Christian won 78-38 in a game played at Covenant.

The game started rough with Jojo Mullen going on a roll for Franklin Christian leading the first quarter scoring. Mason hadn’t gotten into his groove yet for the Lions and made mostly foul shots. D.J. Moore was able to get a couple points to help Covenant.

The Lions weren’t too far behind going into the second quarter, trailing 18-13. The second quarter would be tougher as Falcon top scorer Horn put up 9 points for Franklin. Covenant did not keep pace this quarter.

By halftime, the damage was done with Franklin leading 40-19.

The Lions found their stride in the third quarter a bit by keeping the Falcons from scoring on the inside, and Mason and Moore continued to score for Covenant. Mason made layup after layup breaking through Franklin’s post defense.

Where the Lions were stopping inside shots, the Falcons seized the opportunity to make some 3’s to keep Covenant from catching up. The fourth quarter would prove unfortunate for the Lions again as they could only score 5 points that quarter.

The Lions play Dayspring Academy tonight for their senior night and play local rival Boyd Christian on Tuesday. In the last matchup against Boyd, the Lions won by one point, 66-65.
