Quarterback Bryson Elrod completed a bomb to Dante Elam for a touchdown to give the Pioneer junior varsity team its biggest play in the closing seconds of a Monday night scrimmage against Lincoln County.The Pioneers then opted to go for 2 – and the win – but couldn’t get the ball across the goal line on an inside run.That left Lincoln County with a 7-6 victory in JV action at Nunley Stadium.“The main thing we were looking for tonight was effort and we got that,” said Warren County coach Tom Moore. “We can correct everything else as long as we have the effort and I was pleased with what I saw.”Neither team accomplished much during their first two possessions. Lincoln County’s offensive struggles could be traced to an aggressive Pioneer defense.Clay Thompson and Chase Cannon combined to get a hard hit on Lincoln County’s quarterback, and Mason Johnson broke up a fourth-down pass to highlight some of the big defensive plays.Lincoln County scored on its third and final possession thanks to elusive runs by QB Neyland Jean.
