It was a night to forget for the Pioneers Tuesday when they fell at home to visiting Cookeville 15-3.
The Cavaliers blew open a game that was close for five innings, pushing across five runs in the sixth and seven in the seventh to pummel the Pioneers late.
Easton Denning hit his second homer of the season in the seventh, but it wasn't going to be enough to rally the Pioneers. Warren County finished with six hits, three coming from senior Aiden Miller (who ripped a RBI single in the second to tie the game 2-2 early). Fellow seniors Alex van Vuuren, Baler Melton and Denning had one hit each.
Melton took the loss, pitching into the sixth and giving up five runs. The Pioneer relievers surrendered 10 runs in two innings.
