Boyd Christian High School’s Broncos continue to go undefeated as they played host to the Holloway Eagles from Murfreesboro and held on for a 57-50 victory Monday night. Both teams got off to a cold start, plagued by poor shooting percentages from both downtown and the charity stripe leaving an abysmal 5-5 tie after first-quarter action. Boyd’s Trey Cantrell scored from inside on a layup and hit one from the foul line, while big man Joelah Solomon put up a board for a bucket.Warming up in the second quarter, Bronco Tyler Beaty and Cantrell both shared a dozen points with six apiece and the Broncos started to move away with a 21-14 lead at the break.A heated third quarter found both teams in a dogfight as Boyd’s Cantrell hit for 6 points more and Beaty dialed long distance with a 3-pointer and hit one from the foul line. Solomon and Blain Wilson both added 2 points each and it was the Broncos 35-29 after three.Holloway tried to press in the fourth, but got into foul trouble trying to defend the paint against Boyd’s Solomon who scored 13 of his game-high 19-point total in the fourth quarter.
