The Boyd Christian Lady Broncos are headed to the finals of the TSIAA Tournament after beating South Haven Christian 60-50 on Friday. The Lady Broncos add another win under their belt as Lia Wright led the team in scoring with 24.

Wright scored just over half of Boyd’s points in the first quarter in foul shots making 5-of-6 free throws. Wright continued to be a threat on the inside as well as Laney Copeland who scored a solid 19 for the Lady Broncos.

Boyd consistently scored just a bit more than South Haven keeping the Lady Broncos ahead, but not by much. Boyd outscored South Haven 13-12 in the first quarter.

Aliyah Gagliano made it difficult for the Lady Broncos as she scored two 3-pointers in the first quarter and continued into the second with inside shots. Copeland added a 3 for the Lady Broncos to keep them ahead 29-26 at halftime.

Interestingly, Boyd outscored South Haven 16-14 in both the second and third quarters. Adriana Sawyer took center stage for South Haven putting up four 3-pointers in those two quarters. Luckily Boyd had Krista Chisam, Audrey Durham and Jaycie Hodges each making a 3 in the second half.

The fourth quarter is where the Lady Broncos sealed their victory and solidified their spot in the championship as they outscored South Haven 15-10 thanks to consistent scoring from the team. 

Though Boyd made 1 out of 5 foul shots in the final quarter and South Haven made all of theirs, the Lady Broncos didn’t need those points as they had gained a comfortable lead.
