Dallis Melton, right, gets a high-five from WCMS assistant coach Rodney Whiles after her second hit in Monday's 14-4 win over Franklin North.

Franklin North proved to be little more than a speed bump for the rolling Lady Pioneers.

The Warren County Middle School softball team pounded the visiting Gatorettes 14-4 to improve to 17-3 this season. The Lady Pioneers also assured themselves a top-three spot in the Central Tennessee Conference, improving to 8-2 in CTC play.

On a night where the team celebrated eighth-grade night, Bella Bain shined brightest. The team’s slugger finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs, including a double to center field to start the scoring in the first.

Bain added another run-scoring double in the second, scoring Cadi Todd and Jessie Young, before capping her night with a RBI single in the third.

The third inning was when Warren County broke the game open. Leading just 5-4, the Lady Pioneers plated nine runs to lead by double digits by the time the fourth frame began.

Alyssa Mosley highlighted the offensive explosion with a two-run double, sending a shot into the right-center gap which plated Todd and Young. Young and Kora Forbes added RBI singles in the inning, while Todd, Ky Damon and Jaz Ward drew bases-loaded walks.

Forbes ended the game early with her third strikeout, keeping Franklin North from scoring a run to extend the outing. Forbes pitching four innings to earn the victory, her third in CTC games.

Young, Forbes and Dallis Melton finished with two hits each in the victory, while Todd, Mosley, Gracie Randolph and Isabella Pennington added one hit apiece.
