"All dolled up" is a term that is usually applied to a female who is fixed up smartly and well-groomed, usually for a special occasion. The expression is derived from fancy dolls which are artificially made as examples of style for young girls. The popularity of the Barbie doll, and the recent Barbie movie is a good example of this.
