Only one thing is a certainty when tinkering with the school calendar – it’s a no-win situation. No matter what school officials do in shaping a calendar, there will be someone, somewhere who is not happy. If you put the first day of school in early August to get the first semester finished by Christmas break, there are people who will be upset because summer ends too early. If you start much later in August, people will complain the school year extends too far into June or doesn’t have enough breaks to give the students ample rest.If you tinker with spring break there’s a group that will be upset. If you start taking days away from fall break it will impact another segment. There is truly no way to please everyone when it comes to the school calendar.
