TO THE EDITOR:
I would just like to comment on the police station move. I think our city administrator has just been trying to find ways to spend our money.
If he had used the money he spent on the bank building, then modifications to that facility, plus the cost of the move, then the move of the police station to a building that was never intended to be permanent (but cost us some more money) it would be a large amount.
I do believe he could have used the money toward the Blue Building and have it a lot closer to code and still have everyone in one place and parking for everyone. The Blue Building is/ was a beautiful building and was extremely convenient. I also feel like he is trying to harm insurance premiums with the removal of Fire Station 2. It seems like ever since he has come to town, it is down with the old and up with the new. Sometimes that is good but in most of his cases it is costing us and the city big dollars.
Next time it snows, you should see the path he has coming to his home. I don’t believe many of you have that same path. I also believe if the commissioners and our administrator had just sat down and thought through all of the expenses they were going to incur that we might be a lot better off all the way around to have stayed where they were at the Blue Building and used that money more wisely.
I would be very interested in knowing just how much that wonderful elevator in the bank has cost us since they have made the move. I am sure that money would have gone a long way toward updating the Blue Building also.
