Recently, I ran across my old World Book Encyclopedia, copyright 1956. That’s right, 1956. In case you’re wondering why I’ve held on to it for 58 years, my reasons are both sentimental and practical.Sentimentally, I treasure my World Book – all 18 volumes of it – plus the Reading and Study Guide, because my mother bought it for me on the “easy payment plan” when I was a sophomore at McMinnville Central High School.
