Come out and visit Marketville

If you have flipped through the sports section and, hopefully, not just looked at the front page, perhaps you have seen the full-page ad for the Marketville Car Show. We hope this year will somehow makeup for last year’s downpour that kept folks away.
We are also adding some new twist this year. We do not want you to be stuck sitting at hot field looking for shade. We are going to have games to take your mind off of the heat. At 11 a.m. there will be a chocolate milk chug for five contestants who want to see who has what it takes to make a half gallon of chocolate milk disappear.
At noon we have Mud Bums bringing five orders of its hottest wings to see who can really beat the heat. This is not a timed event, you must clean the bones without drinking anything until you are finished. After eating the hottest wings available you may drink, and a winner will be determined.
A tattoo contest will be held and judged accordingly. It is not based on coverage, rather by the piece, and will be determined by line work, color and overall clarity of the piece.
We are allowing all cars, trucks and motorcycles to enter the show. We are giving away custom laser cut license plates made by Metal Product Company that may be painted to match your very own car, truck or motorcycle. Several specialty awards will be available including a custom hand-painted gas can all the way from North Carolina for a long-distance award.
Terry Kidd at Kidd Ford and Bill Holt from Bill Holt Chevrolet will be on hand and have generously donated $100 for the best Ford and best Chevy in attendance. Southern Standard is awarding $50 for best of show car, truck and motorcycle. Rounding out the rewards are numerous door prizes donated by business owners and companies around this community.
I would like to thank each person involved in donating to this year’s Marketville show. Without your generosity it would be just another show. If you wish to take part in this weekend’s activities, come by and see what is happening at the Warren County A&L Fairgrounds.
You do not have to be registered in the show to take part in the show contests. You do however have to be registered in the car show to win the door prizes. Pull those car-covers back, dust off those rims, and come out and get your shine on.
Food booths will be available with plenty of options on hand. Then walk over and see what Marketville is all about around the grandstands. Who knows what you might go home with this Saturday. Right on.
