Beware of bursting into song

Watch what you do when you are sitting in the drive-thru at Caney Fork Electric Cooperative waiting to pay your bill. You might be by yourself in the car, but you are not alone.
I have a real problem. I use my car like it’s a dance party. When a song I like comes on, I have been known to crank the music up, dance and sing – I act like I’m alone, but I really don’t care who sees me. Music affects my mood and good music affects my mood in a good way. To that end, when I’m driving, I listen to music that makes me feel good.
I am usually very careful to turn the music down, even off, when I’m in line waiting to pay bills. If I don’t turn it down, I might continue singing. Have you figured out what I did yet? I was listening to a really good song that I love to sing to. I stopped singing when I got up to the window. When the employee took my bill and money, she walked off. I went right back to singing.
She returned with my change and said, “You sounded really good.”
I assumed the speaker/ microphone was off, so I said “Oh my goodness, were you listening to me?”
“No,” she said. After a pause, she added “We were all listening to you. It sounded good.”
I overcame that embarrassing moment by driving off and cranking up the dance party again. If you want to join me at the club, it’s by invitation only. Sorry.
I don’t know about you, but I've had enough of winter. It felt like winter was only creeping in and then it hit us like a ton of bricks. Now, we’ve had a week of nothing but rain, rain, rain, rain – I feel like there should be one more “rain” there. I didn’t want to overdo it, unlike Mother Nature.
I am a happy little camper about the time change. That’s a figure of speech. Those of you who know me know I do not camp. I am definitely not Danielle Boone. The day I camp in the woods will be the day I’m lost. I’m OK with hugging a tree from time to time on hikes in order to break my fall, but I will not be camping there.
With the time this way it is, I have at least a couple hours of daylight when I get off work in the evenings. Having those hours gives me time to do other stuff. Soon, that stuff will be digging my way out from under the winter months – limbs and leaves, not bricks. It will take a few days to gather all the limbs and leaves and dispose of them – feels like an endless process of pain when I’m in the middle of doing it.
However, once I’m done, the weather will be nice enough to have a dance party in my car with the windows down. Sweet!
