William Rex Moore, 85, of Turkey Scratch Road in Spencer died Tuesday, June 14 at V.A. Hospital in Nashville.He was born in Perryville on March 16, 1926, the son of the late James and Verna (Gilbert) Moore.He served in the U.S. Army as a Pfc. in World War II. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a 33rd Degree Master Mason of Spencer Lodge 766. He was a past master and served as lodge chaplain. He is survived by son Wendell Rex Moore of Spencer; four daughters, Joyce Smith and husband Tony of Sparta, Linda Smith of Sparta, Mary Masters and husband Steve of Sparta, Vickie Rowland and husband Phillip of McMinnville; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mildred Crosby of Camden, Lola Wilkinson and husband Mark of Madison, Conn., Jimmie Laverne Farris of Mokena Ill., Justine Chance and husband Jerry of Tallahassee, Fla.; many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.In addition to his parents William was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Lee Moore; three brothers James Mack Moore, Walter Thomas Moore, and Kenneth Gilbert Moore.Funeral service was held at Spencer Funeral Home on Thursday with Lofton Graves officiating.
