Virginia Nist Siegferth, 93, died in her home in McMinnville on June 9. She was born June 4, 1918 in Akron, Ohio to Ralph and Ruth Walsh Nist. She was one of nine children.
She married William Siegferth and had four children. They enjoyed family trips to Canada for fishing and boating. She was a seamstress for Polski’s Department Store and a full-time mother. Her hobbies included family, gardening, sewing, cooking and reading. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Judi and Ron DePiero of McMinnville; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Betty Siegferth of Randolph, Ohio, and David and Dee Siegferth of Doylestown, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Nist Zwisler of Akron, Ohio, and Peg Nist Dyer of South Carolina; one brother, Ed Nist of Apache Junction, Ariz.; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was married to William John Siegferth, who preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Elizabeth Siegferth House; granddaughter, Heather Siegferth; two sisters, Rosemary Nist Westly and Betty Nist McGraw; three brothers, William Nist, Thomas Nist and Joe Nist; and son-in-law, Bill House.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 16 at St. Catherine's Catholic Church led by Father David Cooney. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made to Magness Library.
