Vernon Harold Wilder, 91, of Murfreesboro (formerly of Long Beach, Calif.) died Wednesday, May 14 at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro.
He was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Long Beach and was retired after 41 years of service in the aerospace industry with McDonald - Douglas Corp. and then went to work with AVCO in Nashville. Mr. Wilder was preceded in death by his son, Larry Wilder; parents, Orville and Lydia Doss Wilder, and several siblings.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Eleanor Vinson Wilder; son, Dr. Ronald (Debbie) Wilder of Littleton, N.C.; daughter-in-law, Jan Wilder of Tuscan, Ariz.; sister, Doris Burden of Washington state; grandchildren, Wendy (Jim) Beale of the Washington, D.C. area, and Jason (Karen) Wilder of Westminster, Colo., and great grandchildren Brett Beale, Mattie Beale, Aden Wilder, and Landon Wilder.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at McMinnville Funeral Chapel. Nathan Hale and Charles Williams will officiate. Interment will follow at Blues Hill Cemetery. The Wilder family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and again Saturday from 8 to 10 a.m. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
